Official Site of The Bexley and District Junior Football League: Providing a safe and supportive environment for children and young adults to enjoy competitive and fun Sunday Football.

The Bexley and District Junior Football League (informally known as the Bexley League) was founded from very humble beginnings with the first meeting of member clubs taking place in September 1970.

Two divisions were formed with five teams in each, one at U-14 and the other at U12, with the first games being played in November 1970, After about eighteen months it became clear that things were not going quite as planned and a new Committee was formed, following which the league grew from strength to strength and became known as the "Friendly League".

In the late seventies, with the demise of another local league, the Bexley League really took off and became the first junior league with over one hundred teams affiliated to the L.Y.F.A. Over the years a number of member clubs have produced many young footballers who have gone on to make their name in the professional game.

The future of junior football in the Bexley League

A recent major change for the better, has been the introduction of "Mini Soccer". The first organised games took place at the London Marathon ground in September 1999. This new format for both boys and girls in the U-7 to U-11 age groups meant that the league took on nearly two hundred additional teams that season.

Currently there are one hundred and forty five member clubs fielding five hundred and fifty teams with an approximate total of seven thousand playing members. The league therefore provides competitive eleven a side football for all boys under eleven to under eighteen and both competitive and instructional football for both boys and girls of ages under seven to under eleven.
